Tracer study is a graduate or alumni tracking activity that is carried out routinely by each study program for its alumni after graduation. The aim of the tracer study activity is actually to find out the results of the educational activity process that has been given to students before entering the world of work. The tracer study contains a questionnaire that is guided by the questions in the tracer study for higher education in accordance with the tracer study provisions by DIKTI. These questions include (1) personal identity consisting of full name, gender, cellphone number, email address and home address, (2) graduate waiting period or time gap between graduating and getting a job, (3) type alumni jobs, (4) alumni positions or positions in agencies or companies where alumni work, (5) salaries or income earned by alumni from agencies or companies where alumni work, and so on.

Data and information originating from alumni is very useful for study programs for the purposes of evaluating educational outcomes, improving and ensuring the quality of the teaching process and the relevance of the curriculum implemented to the needs of the world of work. Data obtained from tracer studies can also be used as a tool to measure the absorption of study program graduates in the world of work. In order to be a “measuring tool” and study and evaluation material for improving and perfecting the quality of education in the study program, it is very important for data and information obtained from tracer study activities to be disseminated to all stakeholders, especially lecturers who teach courses and study program managers. To facilitate the dissemination of tracer study results, the Department of Animal Husbandry regularly holds plenary meetings which are attended by all study program managers within the Department of Animal Husbandry (including the Master of Animal Science Master’s Study Program) and all lecturers within the Department of Animal Husbandry at the beginning of each semester, precisely before the implementation of lecture activities. regularly every semester. Apart from evaluating lecture activities in the previous semester and preparation for lectures in the following semester, the plenary meeting of the Department of Animal Husbandry is a medium for socializing the results of tracer studies, evaluations, consultations and finding solutions to problems reported by study program graduates through tracer studies.

In the short term, it is hoped that steps to improve and find solutions to all problems and shortcomings reported by alumni through tracer studies can be taken at the plenary meeting of the Department of Animal Husbandry. Meanwhile, problems related to adapting the curriculum to the needs of the world of work will be material for study at the curriculum workshop which is held every year by the Study Program within the Department of Animal Husbandry.
